Naggar is a beautiful place in Himachal Pradesh situated at a height of over 1800 meters from sea level on the left bank of stunning river Beas. Naggar is a small and calm ancient town with spectacular views, specifically to the North West of the valley. Naggar once used to be the capital of Kullu. This remarkable town was founded by Raja Visudhpal and Naggar continued as a headquarters of the State until the capital was transferred to Sultanpur (Kullu) by Jagat Singh in 1460 A.D. Naggar is one of the popular and fantastic tourist destinations in this region.

 How to reach Naggar

 You can reach Naggar by road from Kullu which is about 26 km. Naggar is about 21 Km from the famous Manali town. The nearest airport from Naggar is at Bhunter Airport(Kullu) about 36 km.

Trekkin at Naggar - There are many places to the adventure lovers here. You can chack out several trek routes. Some of the main trek routes are over the Chanderkhani Pass to Malana village, over the Jalori Pass to Shimla, and over the Pin Parvati Pass to Sarahan. The river Beas offers excellent opportunities for white water rafting.

In Naggar The Castle Hotel is run by Himachal Government owned HPTDC. The Castle was converted into a rest house, a hundred year back and in 1978 this ancient building was handed over to HPTDC to run as a heritage hotel.

This medieval Castle was built by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu around 1460 A.D. The hotel overlooks the Kullu Valley and apart from the spectacular view and superb location this has a flavour of authentic western Himalayan architecture. Here, a gallery houses the paintings of the Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. Naggar also has three other old shrines. Hotel Castle is a unique medieval stone and wood mansion, once the home to the Raja of Kullu and now an HPTDC Heritage hotel.
