Rewalsar in Himachal Pradesh
Rewalsar Lake, often referred to as Tso Pema, is a revered body of water situated in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi region. The lake has religious significance for Buddhists, Sikhs, and Hindus and is located at a height of roughly 1,360 metres (4,460 feet) above sea level.
The lake is famous for its quiet and tranquil ambiance and is bordered by lovely hills. It is thought to have mythological and spiritual associations, drawing pilgrims and tourists from all faiths.
Rewalsar Lake is connected to the Hindu sage Lomas. The lake was supposedly formed when the demon king Ravana brought some of the sacred water from Tibet's Mansarovar Lake in an effort to atone for his transgressions. This water was then left behind by Lomas at Rewalsar. This accounts for the lake's revered status.
Rewalsar Lake is significant to Buddhists because it is thought that Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, meditated there. Padmasambhava is a famous guru and scholar. Sikhs also revere Rewalsar Lake because of its connection to Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. Guru Gobind Singh reportedly travelled to Rewalsar in the early 18th century, according to Sikh legend.
