Reaching Shimla By Road
Shimla is just a six to seven hours drive from Delhi by road. Take GT Karnal road from Delhi. Continue on this well maintained highway where the speed limit is 90 kms per hour. Make sure you are not breaking this rule or you will end up paying a fine. By this route you will reach Ambala via Panipat and Karnal. From Ambala take another highway towards Chandigarh. You don't need to enter Chandigarh. Just before Chandigarh starts take a right turn to Shimla from Zirakpur. The amazing journey to the Queen of Hills starts from here. Enjoy the hills and green ambience with mesmerising weather and breathtaking landscapes. The highway is amazing and smooth but take care of the temptation to drive fast in the hills, drive caefully and enjoy the nature.

Going to Shimla by Train is life time experience. The toy train though takes 5 hours to reach from Kalka to Shimla but the journey is woth it. The toy train starts form Kalka. Kalka is well connected by trains from all parts of the country including Shatabadi trains from Delhi to Kalka. Always book your seat in the toy train in advance to avoid last minute hastles. Himachal roadways offers regular bus services from Dharamshala to Shimla. The journey takes around 8 to 9 hours from Dharamshala to Shimla. If you are in your own vehicle then you can reach Shimla from Dharamshala either via Hamirpur or via Chandigarh.

Shimla is one of the most visited hill stations in North India. The Capital of Himachal is also known as Hill Queen and used to be the Summer Capital of India during the British Raj.

You can reach Shimla by air, train or by road. Flights from Delhi to Shimla are available daily. Shatabadi Express and other fast trains run from Delhi to Kalka. From Kalka you can board the toy train to Shimla that run through the lush green mountains and passes through over hundred tunnels during the amazing journey. Though it takes around 5 hours from Kalka to Shimla but your kids would enjoy this trip.

Express Bypass from Zirakpur to Parwanoo
Now after opening of the new Express Highway by pass to Shimla your travel time from Delhi to Shimla will be reduced by over one hour. Now you don't have to go via congested Kalka and Pinjore. You can now take Express Bypass from Zirakpur and will reach Parwanoo bypassing Pinjore and Kalka where the tourists used to struggle for over one hour in huge traffic Jams.

To reach Shimla from Delhi you need to take GT Karnal Road. You will reach Ambala via Panipat, Karnal Kurukshetra. After reaching Ambala leave the GT Karnal road and take Chandigarh Highway. You do not have to go to Chandigarh. Just before entering Chandigarh take the route to Shimla from Zirakpur. Take the express highway bypass to avoid traffic and save at least 1 hour.
