Kullu is one of the famous tourist destinations in Hiamchal Pradesh located near Manali. The beautiful serene and scenic mountains and lush green locations in and around Kullu are delight to watch. Beas River has another charm in this calm city, you can enjoy river rafting here. Trekking to the mountains is another adventure activity for which Kullu is famous for.
However Kullu Dussehra is yet another famous festival which is celebrated with great zeal here
It’s one of its kind to witness faith and fair of people and gods together.
Lord Raghunath is the presiding deity of Kullu Dussehra. On the first day the idol of Raghunth ji saddled in colourful attired Rath (chariot) is pulled by big ropes from its fixed place from its temple to a spot in Dhalpur Maidan (ground) by the local people. Chariot is followed by the local deities who are over four hundred in number and are mounted in colorful plaquine as they come to pay their obedience to Lord Raghunath ji –most powerful deity in Kullu Valley.
It is said that idol of Lord Rama along with Lord Hanuman were brought from Ayodhya to Kullu in 16th centuary during the regime of Raja Jagat Singh. The idols are made of ashtadhatu and dates back to 2nd century, but locals claim that these belong to the Ramayana era. These are very unique in their design and shape and are only of the size of a thumb.

Reaching Kullu By Train Though train is not a very good option to reach Kullu but if you have time then you can reach Pathankot, which is the nearest broad gauge station. From Pathankot you can take a bus to Kullu Manali that will take around 8 to 9 hours or you can also take a Toy train from Pathankot till Joginder nagar. Reaching Kullu will take around 2 hours from joginder Nagar Reaching Kullu By Air Kullu is well connected by Air and flights operate daily from Delhi and Chandigarh to Manali. The Airport is at Bhuntar Kullu. Kullu is well connected by road from Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu Kashmir, Haryana, Rajasthan. VOLVO AC and non-AC buses are available from ISBT Delhi to Kullu Manali. How to reach Kullu Manali from Shimla & Dharamshala Himachal roadways, HRTC offers regular bus services from Shimla to Kullu Manali & from Dharamshala to Kullu Manali. The journey takes around 5 hours from Dharamshala to Kullu and about 8 hours from Shimla to Kullu. If you are in your own vehicle then you can reach Manali from Dharamshala via Palampur, Baijnath, Mandi. | ||
