Think Himachal Pradesh and you will think of some famous destinations like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, etc (HRTC Bus Schedule). These are the beautiful places and most of the tourist flow is in these areas. However there are many other unexplored places of interest in Himachal Pradesh which offers complete tranquility and peace. There are some exquisite and amazing places in Himachal Pradesh which are truly mesmerising.

People go to hills to watch the serene beauty and to get the best of air on earth. During summers all the major hill stations in Himachal like Shimla, Chail, Kullu Manali, Dharamshala, Mcleodganj are completely packed and you sometimes even do not get hotel rooms as they are all booked in advance. If you are going in your own vehicle then parking is another problem in these hill towns. The problem of traffic jams is also increasing day by day. You will get the same feel of your crowded city in this kind of scenario. If you plan to visit these beautiful cirties in Himachal it is always advisable not to go in your own vehicle. Go in a Public transport, Trains or by Air and then hire a Taxi there. The driving in Hills is also not easy if you are not accustomed to it. It is better to hire a local cab there to ensure safety.

Apart from the main Hill Stations in Himachal where most of the people from India and abroad visit, there are numerous places where you can go and enjoy your trip with peace.

For example if you are planning a trip to Dharamshala and near by places you can make Palampur as your base. You can explore many places in and around Kangra District from here. If you wish you can also visit the main places of interest like Mcleodganj and Dharamshala from Palampur. Distance of Dharamshala from Palampur is only 35 Kms. However the unexplored places that you can visit in Himachal are Andretta Village where you can see the Art Gallery of famous Painter Sobha Singh. Andretta Pottery is again a place where you can see its production and showroom.

A walk into the Tea Gardens in Palampur is again a wonderful experience. Sujanpur Tira is another historical place near Palampur about 35 Kms. You can see the Fort here and a stroll alongside river Beas is a nice idea in the evenings. You can get the feel of real Himachal  in the small towns and villages free of pollution and with innocent people offering great hospitality.

The ancient Baijnath Temple is about 10 Kms from Palampur.

Around 10 Kms from Palampur is Gopalpur Zoo where there are many rare animals and birds. Chamunda Devi (see How to reach Chamunda) Devi Kangra

Temple around 15 Kms is a religious and famous temple. Kangra Devi Temple, Jwalaji are also not very far from Palampur.

On one side of Palampur is Dharamshala and on the other side is Kullu Manali (see How to reach Manali) You can also plan a trip to Manali from Palampur. It is about 4 hours Journey from here. Do not miss Mani karan, a wonderful religious place for Hindus and Sikhs. Hot water Springs will surprise you here.

While in Dharamshala (Site Seeing in Dharamshala) you can visit many beautiful and good places which are free from all the hustle and bustle of the city. They include Narghota Village, Mann Tea Estate in Narghota, Tea gardens in Narghota and Kunal Pathari Temple. Walk at the Sanitorium in Chilgari amidst dense Pine trees has many healing powers.

You can also explore Satobari Village in Upper Dharamshala.

Another not very explored destination near Dharamshala is Masoor Rock Temples. The ancient Temples are truly delighting and enchanting.
